Walk the Walk is delighted to be the 2019 Charity Partner for the #walk1000miles challenge, organised by our friends at Country Walking Magazine! This is our second year partnering with #walk1000miles and we know that many of you completed this amazing challenge in 2018, alongside MoonWalks and other Walk the Walk events.
Thinking of taking the plunge with #walk1000miles in 2019 and wondering how it works? Well, it’s a free, honesty based, fun challenge to walk a total of 1000 miles during 2019. This works out at 2.74 miles a day.
If you’ve already signed up for The MoonWalk London, The MoonWalk Scotland or one of Walk the Walk’s Unique Challenges, #walk1000miles is the perfect way to keep you walking all year, between your training. The miles will soon ramp up, and reaching 1000 miles in a year is a very attainable goal!
Gillian Beveridge completed a number of events for Walk the Walk in 2018, as well as smashing her target of 1000 miles across the year. She says that completing 1000 miles was tough, but gave her a huge sense of focus and achievement:
“A challenge is just that, a CHALLENGE. It’s no fun if it’s easy and you get to the end without breaking a sweat, swearing a little and wanting the world to stop for a minute and give you a break. I go through all these emotions on most walks, and even most days in work. Taking part in the #1000 mile challenge has been fantastic, as it kept me focused throughout the year. I have loved doing this challenge alongside my Walk the Walk events. Those that know me, know I don’t do pride in myself and blush with any compliment, but I want to share that it CAN be done. I would encourage everyone to take on this challenge next year, as it focuses the mind and builds fitness and stamina - all good things!”
Walk the Walk Founder and Chief Executive Nina Barough CBE is excited that Walk the Walk and #walk1000 miles are working with each other again in 2019;-
“As we enter the second year of our partnership with #walk1000miles, I am so utterly delighted that together, we are set on turning the UK into a nation of walkers. The wonderful synergy between the MoonWalks and #walk1000miles makes a winning combination of the exciting buzz that surrounds signing up for #walk1000miles and that fantastic sense of achievement you feel crossing the MoonWalk finishing line …Oh if only we could bottle it, what a year it would be!”
