Breast cancer charity’s first 5K Zoom is a huge success!

Breast cancer charity Walk the Walk's new 5K challenge for people of all ages

On Saturday 18th May, 150 walkers completed Walk the Walk’s first 5K Zoom walk around Clapham Common, to raise money and awareness for breast and other cancers.

Walk the Walk specialises in all types of Walking challenges. The 5K Zoom Walk was introduced this year as a new fun challenge to encourage all ages and abilities to take part.

The charity is best known as the organiser of the iconic night-time MoonWalk London which takes place overnight tonight (Sat 18th May) and sees thousands of women, men and children completing a marathon or half marathon wearing trademark decorated bras.

Families and friends came together to take part and complete the challenge with everyone receiving a 5k Zoom medal.

Sophie Brooke from Streatham took part in the 5K Zoom Walk with her mum Flora, Dad Nick, Brother Orlando and two-year-old daughter Raia:

“We took part in Walk the Walk’s first 5km as a family in memory of my grandmother who died from breast cancer. We’ve always been hugely inspired by the Walk the Walk’s Founder Nina Barough and the work which the charity does and that’s why we keep on coming back.
At just two years old, my daughter Raia is now the third generation of our family to take part in a Walk the Walk event and the 5K Zoom was perfect for her. She’s been walking for around a year and we thought it would be fabulous to actually have her taking part in a challenge with us! The atmosphere and camaraderie during the 5K Zoom was amazing and we will all definitely be taking part again next year!”
