As a cancer charity, we DO NOT allow smoking or vaping anywhere on MoonWalk City for the health and safety of all our Walkers and Volunteers. Please consider others, if you are seen smoking by any Volunteers or the Walk the Walk Team you will be asked to stop and could be escorted off the site.
Thank you in advance.
Just in case you didn't know and to remind those that do... all you Full Mooners have signed up for 26.2 miles and Half Mooners Plus, 15.1. These distances have been measured accurately using the latest mechanical odometer. So… a note to all you GPS and app users... ahead of the challenge, we just want to say that inaccuracies over these distances are really common, especially in built-up places like central London. Trust us, we have seen it all… lots of 'zig-zagging' paths that don't exist, and some even showing people walking through the Thames!... I promise you the route does not ask you to walk on water, so unless we have to make any last-minute route changes, this distance is accurate... you heard it here first!
Your all Weather Poncho... It might look like a bit of plastic (biodegradable of course) but this is a truly amazing bit of kit and is good for any weather.
If you begin to feel cool, wearing an all-weather poncho can really warm you up. Wear it over the top of your fabulously decorated bra and if you still feel cold after walking for a few minutes, belt your bumbag over the top to keep the plastic close to your skin and put the hood up underneath your cap and you will feel warmer within minutes… as I am sure you know most of your body heat is lost through the top of your head!
Don’t forget yours… If you have already used it whilst training, or you do forget it… We will have limited stock available for a minimum £2.00 donation.
Even if the weekend is warm… and it is looking goooood…. Make sure you bring a few layers including a long sleeved sweatshirt that you can tie around your waist so you have something to put on immediately should you need it. Plus, even if the morning is gorgeous, you will need some warm clothes to put on at the end. Tiredness can make you feel cold even with the sun shining!
DO NOT FORGET YOUR SUNSCREEN, the sun can be extremely intense in the early hours and the last thing you want is a red face and a burnt nose on your Finish Line photo! You can find a list of everything you need here.
We just want to mention that Walk the Walk do not allow Walking Poles on this challenge. Albeit unintentional, they can be extremely dangerous and cause injury, when used on busy streets where other walkers can be close to you.
Our Volunteer Marshalls will request anyone seen using Poles, to hand them over to the Volunteers, who will then return them to the Volunteer Tent at MoonWalk City where you can collect them up on your return.
Walking sticks are permitted, and if you do need to use any walking aid, please do get in touch with our Walker Support so they can ensure that the relevant people are made aware of your need.
When you cross the Finish Line make sure you get your hot drink voucher. You can take this to any of the stalls in the Food Village and swap it for any hot drink of your choice.
Enjoy!
Look out for your Timpson offer… Take your medal to any Timson shop in the UK, show them your Voucher and they will engrave it for just £5.00 (normally £10.00 - £15.00) they will engrave the back of your medal with your Name and your Finishing Time… making MoonWalk memories!
In case you didn’t hear the wonderful Gaby Roslin talking to Nina on Radio London last weekend, we are so excited to share that Gaby confirmed she will once again be hosting the MoonWalk London. Gaby will be joined by guests, all giving you massive support for the challenge you are undertaking... and who knows you may even find yourself up there on the stage!
Plus, as Gaby is one of Walk the Walk's greatest supporters and an ardent walker, she is not only hosting but making a quick dash to the Start Line, she will be setting off with our incredible Ambassador Harriet Thorpe and their fabulous team Harriet's Big Tits.
They have been known to deliver a song or two as they walk so look out for them!
If you would like to find out more about where you will be walking on the night... a basic route map can be found here!
For any 'Solo Walkers' out there (remember you are never alone at a MoonWalk!) or you just want a place to meet up with others then find the 'Meeting Flag' and have fun meeting old friends and new ones as you get ready to set out on your challenge!
Look out for our POP UP SHOP selling all sorts of goodies including our new edition 2023 Buffs… Eco Water Bottles… Bottle Holder and Bumbags… Arm Warmers… Divine and Tony’s Chocolate of course, and lots more!
Hurry… This is your last chance to order cozy Hoodies, Pom Hats, Leggings, or any other kit you might want on the night... check delivery!
Just to let you know that across the MoonWalk we will be accepting cash or card.… So whether you want to buy food, drink, something from the POP UP SHOP, or you want to make a donation we will be taking both forms of payment!
Once again, we are offering everyone the opportunity to fill up their own water bottles at MoonWalk City... If you are looking for a new water bottle... read on!
Our Eco bottle is made in the UK from sustainable material and manufactured using renewable energy, is recyclable, BPA free and dishwasher safe… what's not to love!
For those that prefer, we also have a stainless steel option that is long-lasting and can take hot and cold drinks!
Both bottles will be available to purchase on the night!

Many of you will know just what a special supporter we have in Hazell Dean… She recorded an amazing MoonWalk Anthem and the most fantastic version of ‘The Way Old Friends Do’ written by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus.
Download a copy today, add it to your playlist list, and enjoy the MoonWalk Anthem! It's around £1 a download, so that's 50p every time to Walk the Walk as Hazell is very generously donating 50% of profits to Walk the Walk... every penny makes a difference! A huge THANK YOU Hazell!
The spectacular Globe Girls are BACK! They will be performing on MoonWalk night… if you haven't seen them before, then get ready to be entertained, they are amazing and a real treat to watch!

It's going to be as incredible as ever... We can't wait to celebrate 25 years of MoonWalking with you... bring it on!
We are still working on the detail but we know many are waiting to make travel plans, so we can say that Gates will open from around 8.30pm. You will be given a specific arrival time, and just to give you the heads up, as you go through the entrance you will be given a Wristband which you will need to put on before you pass through the gates.
Amongst other things, you will be receiving your Walker Number in your pack, which will be sent out soon. This number is unique to you so must not be passed on. You will also be receiving full information for the night, a little closer to the date.
It is worth just mentioning now so that you can plan ahead, that only small bags will be allowed into MoonWalk City with essential items that can be stowed overnight whilst you walk. The bag must not exceed 40cm x 55cm in size but more about this closer to the night.
This year we are very excited to be expanding our Food Village where you will be able to buy a variety of delicious foods and hot drinks from the moment you arrive, all the way through the night until your return through the Finish Line. We’ll be sharing more information on what will be on sale over the coming weeks!
Water is in plentiful supply at the MoonWalk both on Clapham Common and at our Service Stations out on the route.
As always, it is a careful balance to support the need for everyone to have easy and quick access to water for all our health and safety reasons, but also to meet our environmental ambitions.
Bring your own water bottle, or buy a Walk the Walk bottle, and fill it on-site before you start your challenge. However, on the route we know if water is not readily available at speed people do not drink, so bottles will be available on the route. We will have accessible bins by the water station so you can transfer the water into your own bottle, and by putting the bottle into the bin, make it readily available to be collected and recycled.
We need you to encourage just one person to join you as a Walker or a Volunteer... go on, we know you can do it. Help us spread the word... get your friends, family and even your neighbours to join in the fun!
That's it for now, keep your eyes peeled for more Sneaky Peeks and news in our next email, and we’ll be back in touch again soon. If you have any questions or just want to chat, drop us an email or give us a call on 01483 741430.
We would love to hear from you… Happy walking!
