Charity marathon Winter Fundraising Ideas!

Raise money for breast cancer charity Walk the Walk by doing something you love... or that's good for you... as you prepare for your charity marathon!

As we start the New Year, we reflect on the changes for good we want to make in our lives.  From losing weight to giving up alcohol, from signing up for the gym to walking every day, New Year’s resolutions are all about becoming healthier after the excesses of the Christmas festivities! So use your New Year’s resolutions to kick start your fundraising, and use your fundraising to keep you motivated!

Say No to Naughties and give them up! - What is your weakness that stops you achieving your weight or fitness goal? No matter what it is – sweets, chocolate, cigarettes, booze – give it up for January! You might even find you feel so great at the end of the month, that you go for a fit February too! Get your friends to sponsor you, or, why not donate your savings to your fundraising page?

Get fit, active and healthy! - Start the year with a new super fit you, and challenge yourself to walk the distance of your choice every day! If you already have a fundraising page, post comments and photos about your walks, and share that page with your family and friends regularly so they can see how fit you’re getting! Not got a page and not taking part in any of the challenges?  No worries! You can set up your very own My Challenge page by following this link.

Unwanted gifts - We all get those gifts that we really don’t need, so instead of leaving them at the back of your cupboard, you could sell them through eBay or Facebook marketplace and put the proceeds on your online fundraising page? Friends and family may be happy to give you their unwanted gifts too!

Another way to make use of any unwanted gifts is to use them to make up raffle prizes for a grand raffle to be held at an event you are planning in the future, or to have at work.

Wet and Wacky! - OK, so you’ve done a few challenges and your friends and family aren’t so keen on sponsoring you for something you’ve done before, soooo, do something completely different! Get them to sponsor you for doing something outrageous like taking a dip into some freezing cold water! Of course, make sure they come along too so they know you’ve done it, can take photos, and can wrap you up in a nice warm towel afterwards!

No need to get in a pickle over your fundraising - Put your culinary skills to the test and create some homemade chutneys to sell! If you have loads of cheese left over from the Christmas period, then this will be a great time to give those homemade chutneys a go. Try experimenting with some sweet chilli, or red onion or even green tomato chutney, they pair wonderfully with cheese and biscuits and you could even make up a little hamper to raffle off. This could be the start of your very own chutney empire!

Charity of the Year - Could you nominate Walk the Walk as your company or organisation's Charity of the Year... meaning that any money raised for charity throughout the year could be donated to Walk the Walk? This is a great way to raise awareness of the importance of checking your breasts and raising some much needed cash!

Walk the Walk Bra Pin Badges - You can purchase a box of these for £24.99 and give them out in exchange for a suggested donation of a minimum of £2 each, which would generate a total of £75.00 plus donation per box! Many people may even make a bigger donation! Visit our website here for more details.

Got a birthday coming up? - Why not ask for donations to your fundraising page instead of gifts? You can set up a simple fundraiser on Facebook and put the funds raised towards your challenge goal! Just drop us a line to [email protected]

Valentines Ready – It’s never too early to get ready for Valentine’s Day! This is a great time to create a little hamper of chocolates and a bottle of Fizz to raffle off at work. All you need are some scrummy chocolates, some red ribbon, a bottle of pink fizz, put it all together in some red cellophane with a big bow and you’re ready. If you are feeling creative, you could even make your own heart chocolates! Of course, you may have to try them before you put them in the box, just don’t eat them all!

If you have a fundraising event or activity planned, take a look at our list of little extra to help you make the event a success.
