Peebles for Pleasure do The New Moon at The MoonWalk Edinburgh 2013

It started off for us at the Outdorr Pursuits Show in Edinburgh… Sally from Walk the Walk was there with her stand and immediately Iona and Ariana were attracted to what she had to say about the New Moon Walk happening on 8th June in Edinburgh in aid of Breast Cancer. This was the first year that 10 year olds and over could sign up for this walk….so Iona and Ariana were up for it!! Within the 6 weeks of registering for the walk….our team, Peebles for Pleasure, had gained sponsorship pledges of more that £300! The girls took their training for the event very seriously and we completed a 6 mile walk from Peebles to Glentress and back just to break their feet in…and more seriously..prove to themselves that they could do it!

The 8th / 9th June was a night to remember! Hyper was not the word to describe the girls as they embarked on their challenge with so many others! They were even priviledged to have VIP treatment and soaked up the atmosphere in the special guest tent and gave a very inspirational interview on the main stage in from of the 10,000 Moon Walkers that were partying in the pink tent! Wow!!

I was extremely proud of Iona and Ariana! They completed the New Moon Walk in under 2 hours…without a moan or complaint! They enjoyed the encouragement from their fellow Moon Walkers…and people of Edinburgh who had turned out to give us support.

One thing is for sure…..Iona, Ariana and I will DEFINITELY be doing it again next year!
