Grow a Sunflower Challenge

True friends are like bright sunflowers that never fade away, even over distance and time.” Marie Williams Johnstone

Cheery sunflowers are one of the UK’s best loved plants and easy to grow indoors or outside in a sunny sheltered spot. For a ray of sunshine to lift your mood, why not arrange a “Grow the Tallest Sunflower Challenge.”

Competition set up suggestions:

Nominate a Team Leader and pick a team of friends or work colleagues. Then raise funds by selling small sunflower plants to each competition entrant. The challenge is to grow the tallest flower, measured by the Team Leader. (No bribes!)

Hold an event to announce the winner and don’t forget to have the all-important raffle or tombola!

P.S. Post your competition Sunflowers to the Walk the Walk events page

Cheers for a Moonwalk Cocktail!

Did you know there is a cocktail called a Moonwalk? It was created in 1969 – it’s a simple mix of Grand Marnier, grapefruit juice and a touch of rosewater, topped with Champagne in a clear glass.

Mmm, what’s not to like! Why not host a MoonWalk Cocktail Party... all for donations of course! Raising funds was never so much fun! Click here for the recipe.

Hold an After Party!

You’ve done the training – tick! You’ve decorated the bra – tick! You’ve updated your fundraising page and taken loads of photos as you walked the streets of London! Now invite your friends and family to join you to view all your photos, be amazed by your bra and to drink your Prosecco! All for a donation of course! And don’t forget to have a raffle to boost those all-important funds!

Open up your lovely garden!

If you are green-fingered, put your garden to work! Set a date when your garden will be looking its best and advertise your garden as being open to raise money for charity (Walk the Walk). Local websites and flyers through your neighbours’ doors can help to spread the word.

Recruit some volunteers for the day to serve refreshments and charge an entry fee. Make the most of the day by selling cuttings and surplus plants!

Dog walking

Did you know 33% of us are dog owners?...

It’s time to give a helping hand to your dog loving friends, family and neighbours. We all know our furry friends never say no to walkies! Offer to keep these four-legged friends occupied for an hour or so and put on your training shoes… of course in exchange for a donation!

This is a perfect way to boost your fundraising pots and keep on top of your training… Win-Win!
