Spring into March and Find your Mojo!

Pink Bra 96X59px

This month’s challenge is all about technique and speed and you don't get one without the other! Good walking technique can help you get fitter, is great for posture, tones muscle, burns calories, can increase your walking speed and then... put it all to the test and it will help you achieve your goal!

“You are never too old to set another goal or dream a new dream.” - Les Brown

So go on, find your Mojo, choose a distance from below and we'll give you all the technique and advice you need. It's up to you to practice over the month and then go out and conquer your challenge! You can try it as many times as you like, just make sure the activity is showing on your page!

Take it Steady!  Walk 3 miles in 54 minutes (18 minute miles)

Ramp it Up!  Walk 4 miles in 1 hour (15 minute miles)

Intensity!  Walk 5 miles in 1 hour 5 minutes (13 minute miles)

You choose… Full Walk the Walk support and receiving the Monthly Challenge Spring medal (new medal design)… or you can do it purely for the love of Walking with our Free option.

'Every step you take will benefit your health, and will raise money for those living with cancer'

Pumping your arms at a 90 degree angle increases your walking speed.

The Monthly Challenge and ‘Find your Mojo... March!'

Each month, Walk the Walk bring you different walking challenges. This month is all about getting to grips with good technique that will help to increase your speed. Sounds simple, but it actually does take a bit of mastery and practice. Whilst walking generally is good for the mind, body and soul, it's worth knowing that the faster you go, the more technique you will need.

What is 'Find your Mojo... March'?

This month we ask you to focus on yourself, use this walking challenge as a bit of 'me time' and forget about anything other than moving forward with good technique... this means giving your arms and legs a good workout!

We will send you everything you need to help you achieve your goal, and you've got time to do a few practice walks!

How does it work?

Simply choose your distance from the below... select which entry option you wish to register for (Entry medal and support or £Free), then head to the website and register... You're on the start line and ready to start walking!

You have from 1st - 31st March 2022 to complete one of the distances listed below within the set time.

Take it Steady!: Walk 3 miles in 54 minutes (18 minute miles)

How will the challenge be tracked?

What is Strava?

Strava is a free app to download, that uses GPS to record your distance walked... this is automatically connected to your online fundraising page on entry.

How do I get it?

You can connect your Strava account when you create your online fundraising page or later on via the "Connect to Strava" button on your fundraising page. This will be visible when you are logged in.

IMPORTANT! Your Strava settings!

When you are completing your challenge miles, ensure Strava is set to 'Everyone' and select 'walk' as the activity otherwise the miles may not be logged on your fundraising page. We can then track your miles to show you have achieved your goal!

For all other training or non-challenge walks set Strava to 'private'.

What if I can't or do not want to use Strava or want to use another device to track my distance?

If you are using a different measuring device please take a picture or a screenshot of your activity. Whilst you are logged into your fundraising page you can then add each of your walks as a manual activity to your page and add this photo to each activity, which will then be included in your total mileage. Click here for instructions for mobile upload or computer upload.

This must be received by 4th April 2022

Once we have notification your challenge is completed we will send an online certificate and your well-deserved medal will follow in the post.

Proof of completing the Find your Mojo Challenge

Is there a deadline for sending my proof of completion?

Yes. This date is the 4th April 2022

What will happen if I don’t get my proof of completion to you in time?

We will send you an email to remind you a few days before the deadline to send in your proof of completion. If we do not receive this in time we will be unable to send you your medal.

This is the responsibility of each challenger and must be received by Walk the Walk no later than 4th April 2022 to ensure that you all receive the well-deserved medal. Unfortunately, medals cannot be guaranteed after this date!

If you experience any problems submitting your proof of completion please let us know immediately so we can help you.

IMPORTANT! Your Strava settings!

When you set out for any walks, make sure Strava is set to 'Everyone' and select 'walk' as the activity otherwise the miles may not be logged on your fundraising page. We can then track your miles to show you have achieved your goal!

For all other training or non-challenge walks set Strava to 'private'.

What if I can't or do not want to use Strava or want to use another device to track my distance?

If you are using a different measuring device you can add your mileage daily or weekly as a manual activity to your page. You can also add pictures or screenshots of your activities, daily or weekly if you wish. Click here for instructions for mobile upload or computer upload.
