Deck The Halls! Fundraising Christmas Tree Festival

Three years ago my Dad put together the first St James Church Christmas Tree Festival and since then, each year it's got bigger and better with over 50 charity Christmas trees this year.

The annual festival offers individuals the opportunity to fundraise for their chosen charity. Each charity has a tree to decorate to represent their charity and each tree has a collection bucket under it, so as visitors go round the church at their leisure they can donate as they wish.

This year I completed my first MoonWalk London... I took on the Half Moon challenge on my own... I had such an amazing experience that myself and five friends have already registered for next year and can't wait!

I chose to do a tree for Walk the Walk and as the idea is to decorate it to represent your charity it obviously had to include my decorated bra as well as lots of pink sparkly baubles and bows! 

The festival’s opening ceremony was presided over by the Deputy Lieutenant for West Yorkshire who thought the tree was very unique and for a great cause. The picture below shows me wearing my MoonWalk medal with pride!

My Walk the Walk tree has been commented on, admired and also when the school children went round in their groups there were many sniggers and much pointing too... and I've also seen plenty of change going in the bucket!

I've loved speaking to people about Walk the Walk and all about my experience of the night of the MoonWalk - thank you Walk the Walk for giving me the confidence to talk about it so passionately.

I am absolutely over the moon to have collected a fantastic £159.30 for Walk the Walk to support vital breast cancer causes.

The Christmas Tree Festival is a spectacular sight and so rewarding to be part of - over £3800 was raised last year across all the charities involved...  we are hoping we can better that total this year!
