Wow!! What a day to remember!
Yesterday, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, Patron of Walk the Walk hosted a wonderful reception at Clarence House to celebrate 20 amazing years of Walking the Walk!
During the afternoon Prince Charles met Walkers, Volunteers, Fundraisers, Walk the Walk staff and many others who have all supported the charity on its journey to raising a staggering £113 million... so far! Other guests included retro girl group The Tootsie Rollers, who wowed those present with a beautiful acapella version of their Walk the Walk song. Walk the Walk Ambassador, Actress Harriet Thorpe, and Comedian and Actress Jennifer Saunders, also turned out to show their support to what is the largest grant-making UK breast cancer charity.
Speaking yesterday, His Royal Highness said, "It was a pleasure seeing you all and I wanted to wish Walk the Walk a very Happy 20th Birthday, and above all to congratulate dear Nina on this amazing achievement. I don't think she ever imagined it would keep going as long as this when it first started. It is an astonishing achievement to have raised £113 million."
Prince Charles was in great spirits and whilst cutting a specially designed cake featuring an iconic Walk the Walk pink bra, joked “I’ve never tried cutting a bra before”!
Nina our Founder and CEO said "What an amazing day! It was very lovely to bring together a group of people that have played a fundamental part in Walk the Walk existing… Just for a moment we can stand and celebrate our achievements over the past 20 years before we get back to the business of organising more events."
Everyone agreed it was a brilliant day and a fantastic privilege to be welcomed into Clarence House to mark 20 years of Walking the Walk with His Royal Highness, along with our distinguished guests and some of our valued supporters.
We would like to take this opportunity to say a great big THANK YOU to all our amazing Walkers, Volunteers and Supporters... you are the best and we couldn’t do it with without you! Here's to celebrating with you in another 10 years and also to seeing how much closer we have come to finding a cure for breast cancer.
