In March 2017, WTW Founder and CEO, Nina travelled to Scotland for the unveiling of the new Maggie's Centre, from money granted by Walk the Walk... read more to find out about her trip up North...
Well here I am back at Walk the Walk HQ in Woking after a wonderful visit to Scotland and the opening of the New Maggie’s Centre at the Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert. To see my name on the plaque when I whipped away the pink satin cloth to officially mark the opening, still feels very overwhelming. It is a huge and very unexpected honour to see that the new centre has been called The Nina Barough Building.
It was just a wonderful giddy and joyful day, I send a huge thank you to all the guests, both Maggie’s supporters and so many of our MoonWalkers, for uniting together and filling this beautiful space with such caring, vibrant energy, fun, happiness and love, all of which I am certain will be felt in the very fabric of the walls for many years to come. I am so very proud of all of you that have Walked the Walk at The MoonWalk Scotland, putting one foot in front of the other and working hard to raise the £3 million granted to Maggie’s to build this caring oasis for those on their journey through cancer… it is true many feet do make light work and it could not have happened without you, so feel proud of the part you have played!
Also thank you to a lovely man called Will, who came up to me after my speech and handed us £50.00 in memory of a friend, he was just so grateful for all that we are doing.
Finally, all of us at Walk the Walk send our admiration and support to the wonderful Maggie’s Staff that will be there with open arms and a cup of tea to welcome all who need them.
A big hug to you all… see you in June at The MoonWalk Scotland!
