August Fundraising Ideas 2024

The sun is shining, summer is in full swing and the start of August means another month of getting crafty and creative with your Fundraising!

Summer is finally HERE! As we gear up for the MoonWalk Scotland on September 7th, we’re excited to bring you another month of fun, creative and clever fundraising ideas. With the kids at home, August is the perfect time to get everyone involved... read on to see how you can get started!

Summer Fun Days for Kids

Combine the joy of the summer holidays with a fundraising event tailored for families. Plan a day filled with activities such as face painting, outdoor games, treasure hunts, and arts and crafts. Sell tickets for each activity or offer an all-day pass to encourage participation. This is a wonderful way to keep the kids entertained and engaged while raising money for your next challenge!

Turn your phone into a card reader with Charitygo!

To make your fundraising even easier, do download the Charitygo app by Givestar by following the link at the bottom of your fundraising page. This innovative tool allows you to take donations directly from your phone, making it easier than ever for friends and family to contribute to your cause. With Charitygo, you can manage your fundraising page, track donations, and share your progress with ease. How cool is that!?

Create a Summer Recipe Book

By putting together a community recipe book filled with delicious, seasonal dishes, from refreshing salads to mouth-watering BBQ favourites and cool summer desserts, you can showcase the best culinary creations from your community! Submit your recipes and photos to an *online publisher and sell it to family friends, and even your work colleagues. Not only will you get to enjoy a collection of fantastic recipes, but you’ll also be helping to make a difference! * Contact [email protected] for help finding a publisher.

Kids’ Talent Show

Showcase the amazing talents of the children in your community by hosting a kids’ talent show. Whether they can sing, dance, perform magic tricks, or play an instrument, give them the stage to shine. Get a venue, a large garden or a community room would be ideal, charge an entry fee for participants and sell tickets to family and friends who want to come and support! What a FAB way to celebrate the creativity of kids and to also raise funds for Walk the Walk!

Host Your Own Highland Games

With the Olympics in full swing, why not organise a Scottish-themed sporting event? Get into the Scottish spirit by hosting a ‘Highland Games’ event in your neighbourhood? From tug-of-war to Haggis hurling, Welly throwing to Caber tossing, you can recreate traditional Scottish games for a day of competitive fun. Charge an entry fee to participate, sell refreshments, and offer prizes for the winners to raise funds. It’s a fantastic way to engage your neighbours and celebrate Scottish heritage while making a difference to people’s lives!

Outdoor Movie Night

Take advantage of the warm summer evenings by organising an outdoor movie night. Choose a popular family-friendly film and set up a large screen in a large garden or village green (but do check if you need permission). Sell tickets for admission and offer refreshments like popcorn, sweets, and drinks. Encourage your attendees to bring their own blankets and camp chairs to make it extra cosy. From Mamma Mia and Grease to The Greatest Showman, there's no shortage of amazing films to choose from!

Don't forget you can also download some of our fundraising posters! If we can help you further, our Fundraising Team is always on hand to help inspire you or give advice. Just get in touch here.
