Walk the Walk Founder and Trustee Nina Barough CBE reflected:-
Walk the Walk has always been about bringing people together for the good of all, and Saturday’s MoonWalk London was no exception. It was a celebration of a thirty-year movement which has been at the forefront of funding groundbreaking research and instrumental in how breast cancer is diagnosed and treated today. The charity has also raised incredible awareness about the importance of integrated care and of course encouraging everyone to start walking as an important way of helping to keep our nation healthy.
The MoonWalk on Saturday was a dynamic mix of neon energy and excitement as very loyal and long-supporting Walkers and Volunteers welcomed many new Moonwalkers eager to be a part of the action. Together everyone Walked the Walk, celebrating three very successful decades and the start of a new era for the charity
Celebrity support
Walk the Walk’s ambassador, EastEnders’ Harriet Thorpe (who plays Elaine Peacock), took on her 23rd MoonWalk with her Harriet’s Big Tits team, alongside fellow EastEnders actress Francesca Henry (Gina Knight – 1st MoonWalk).
Harriet was also joined by TV and radio presenter Gaby Roslin (5th MoonWalk), and David Ames (6th MoonWalk), best known for his role as Dominic Copeland in Holby City. Together, they walked alongside thousands of supporters taking part in The MoonWalk in memory of loved ones, celebrating coming through treatment, supporting friends and family, or taking on a personal challenge, all while raising vital funds and awareness for this important cause.
Making a difference beyond London
Walkers from across the UK also took part virtually, completing their MoonWalk challenges in a location of their choice.
Funds raised by The MoonWalk London help Walk the Walk continue its vital work funding research, supporting those living with cancer, promoting the importance of early diagnosis and encouraging healthier lifestyles through walking and exercise.
Since the first MoonWalk in 1998, Walk the Walk has raised more than £148 million for breast and other cancer causes. Pre-registrations for The MoonWalk 2027 are now open.
