    2. Half Moon - Half marathon - 13.1 miles
    3. Full Moon - Full marathon - 26.2 miles

  4. Do I have to complete the MoonWalk Virtual on the 20th May 2023?

Yes! Help us make some noise by all coming together around the country, all walking on the same day... what a sight that will be!

  5. Will I get a medal?

Yes. On proof of completing the challenge that you chose at registration, a 2023 medal with its own unique metal finish and ribbon stating the distance achieved, will be sent to you within a notified time after the event.

What happens if I don't complete my chosen challenge?

Sadly, there are some people that for many different reasons do not manage to complete their chosen distance. Whilst we have the utmost admiration and congratulate everybody for entering the challenge, we can not give medals to non-finishers as it would diminish the value to those people that do stay the course - after all, completion is part of the challenge!

What if I decide to do more miles than the distance I signed up for?

That's fantastic that you wanted to keep on walking! We are unable to provide a different medal, so you will receive the medal for the distance that you signed up for.

  6. Will I be walking at night?

Our MoonWalk Live takes place at night, however, because we won't be there to support you in person, for the safety of all, the MoonWalk Virtual will take place during the day. Walk the Walk do not recommend on this occasion walking at night.

  7. Are there any age restrictions?

New Moon - 6.55 miles – This event is open to any age. All younger walkers 12 years of age and under on event day can take part in this challenge only and can enter for £15 and receive a medal only. All younger walkers must be accompanied by a guardian or parent.

Half Moon and Full Moon – Minimum age for participants must be 13 years old or over on the day of the event. All younger walkers must be accompanied by a guardian or parent.

  8. Can men enter The MoonWalk?

YES! Men can Walk the Walk, and Men Can Get Breast Cancer Too, so it is important that they stand to be counted. As The MoonWalk is all about raising awareness and raising money.

  9. What do I have to wear?

Under normal circumstances we would suggest everybody raises awareness by wearing a decorated bra, however, this may not be appropriate if you are walking alone, so we suggest wearing your unique event t-shirt and cap and any clothing that may be weather appropriate.

  10. Can I use walking poles at The MoonWalk?

We would not normally recommend using walking poles at the MoonWalk, however if you need to use them for the walk in your local area then please do.

  11. I have a disability - can I enter?

Disabled entrants are welcome to take part, due to the nature of the event we ask you to contact us (+44(0)1483 741430) prior to filling in the entry form as some disabilities may not find the event feasible.

It is the responsibility of the participant to ensure they are walking in an area that is safe and they have any necessary support they need.

  12. Can I run at The MoonWalk?

No, the Virtual MoonWalk London is a Power Walking challenge and running is not an option. Walk the Walk reserve the right to disqualify anyone who submits a proof of timing that clearly cannot be achieved by walking.

  13. Can I take my dog or pet with me on the challenge?

On this occasion yes, please ensure that your four legged friend or pet is able to complete the distance and will not suffer in any way. We’re sure they’d love to join you! However, for our live MoonWalk events this not an option.

  14. Does the Virtual MoonWalk have a theme?

This year's theme is ‘Your Hero’! So whether you choose your favourite superhero, your childhood hero, or it could be that your mum is Your Hero... get creating and decorate ‘Your Hero’ bra.

What a wonderful way to pay tribute to those that inspire you the most... let your imagination run wild!

  15. What is Walk the Walks environmental policy?

Walk the Walk has always held strong environmental policies across all areas of the charity. Often our demands and aims have been, ahead of availability, technology or are cost prohibitive. We support the belief that a healthy planet is a foundation for healthy people.

It is our constant ambition to be as environmental as we can be, but we cannot fight every battle, and we are mindful that our environmental aims should support, not impact on the funds we grant for breast and other cancers.

These are just some of the ways that Walk the Walk supports the environment

    • Ethically sourced t-shirts
    • Where possible all unused items are donated to other organisations.
    • We have an organic policy and all food handed out at our events is either organic or squeaky clean
    • Any forks or spoons used at events is made from corn-starch Any unused medals… which is rare, are melted down and re-moulded
    • Our printed materials use sustainably sourced recycled paper, which is also recyclable.
    • Plastic is only used where there is absolutely no alternative option. Where it is used, it is produced from recycled materials as well as being recyclable.
    • All our balloons and weather protectors are bio degradable
    • The helium we use is recycled and comes from hospital equipment
    • Event branding and materials are carefully looked after and used many many many times.

The list goes on; we believe it is important to not just talk the talk, but also Walk the Walk!

  16. Plan your route, and create your Start and Finish Line!

No matter where you are, every challenger needs a good Start Line and even more importantly a Finish Line!

Here are a few tips on how to create yours…

No:1 Creating your start is always easier if you have something to work from… a gate… a couple of trees… 2 garden umbrellas stuck in the ground… your front door… your garage doors… and if all else fails 2 loyal friends or family positioned in the right place… as long as they return for the Finish!

No:2 The ribbon or tape to walk through is a must… this could be a piece of string… a pink ribbon of course… crochet a rope or even a chain of bras all linked together (the loyal friends may not want to part with their bras… but they might be happy to hold each end of the chain!)

No:3 Decorating your Start creates drama, so use any bunting or flags you may have… Balloons, as long as they are environmentally friendly… but if you want to keep it pink… try making your own bunting or make some streamers and flowers out of crepe paper!

No: 4 Take a photo! By the time you have your decorated bra… T-shirt… cap and raring to go smile… who needs decoration… YOU ARE ALL WE NEED!

No: 5 Don’t forget to share your Start and Finish line photos on our Event page!

  17. Can I change from the MoonWalk Virtual to the MoonWalk Live?

    Yes!

You can transfer but will need to pay the difference in entry fee of £17. This can only be done up until the pack/medals have been ordered after this a transfer from the Virtual to the Live will not be possible. You will then be able to pick up the additional items that you require on the night of the event.  Please email us with your request.
