Walks, wild flowers and being transported back down memory lane

During my #wtwroadtrip adventure it has been wonderful to be out walking and enjoying the scenery and to become aware of the scents and colours of the wild flowers.

I was in the countryside enjoying the sunshine on my daily walk for the MoonWalk Road Trip Challenge, when I was transported back down memory lane as I kept noticing all types of beautiful wild flowers. I got to thinking about being a little girl in Scotland and making daisy chains, blowing dandelion clocks and just picking bunches of scented and colourful blooms.

“Almost every person, from childhood, has been touched by the untamed beauty of wildflowers” Lady Bird Johnson

Lady Bird was the former First Lady of the United States and wife of President Lyndon B Johnson. She was an advocate for beautifying the nation’s cities and highways “where flowers bloom so does hope”. The Highway Beautification Act was informally known as “Lady Bird’s Bill”

We would love to hear about your memories.

During my #wtwroadtrip adventure, it has been wonderful to be out walking and become aware of the scents and colours of the wild flowers. Who needs the Chelsea Flower Show?

What fabulous memories, it's just amazing how the smell of certain flowers takes you right back...

Here's just a few things that I remember doing as a child or with my children... why not share your memories with us... you never know they may be added to our blog.

  • Blowing the dandelion clocks “he loves me, he loves me not”
  • Buttercups held under your chin to see if you like butter. If it reflects off your skin you like butter
  • Making daisy chain bracelets
  • Finding a lucky four leaf clover
  • Creating rose petal perfumes by adding the petals to a jar with water

Brings back so many happy memories of being a child!

Happy Walking!
