Spring has really arrived, so make the most of those longer evenings by getting outside and using the extra daylight to get your fundraising underway! We are trying to raise £1 million for essential cancer support services, and you can help! Check out these seasonal ideas to put a spring in your step!
Green-fingered?
Now’s the time to plant seeds if you have a greenhouse or shed. Get tomatoes, peppers and chillis underway, not forgetting flowers – who doesn’t like a bunch of sweet peas? Pot the small plants and sell them to your friends and neighbours for a donation to your fundraising page!
Car washing
Your neighbours will be forever grateful when you set up your car wash fundraiser! Most cars are currently covered in road film and dust, so get out your sponge and chammy and offer to clean your friends and neighbours’ cars – for a fee of course! Offer a discount if they sign up for 3 washes! Hope someone’s doing it in my neighbourhood!
Car Boot Sales
Ok, so you cleared out the loft during lockdown – now turn your trash into someone else’s treasure by taking it all to your local car boot sale which should be reopening this month. People will be desperate to get hold of your once loved items as they haven’t been able to visit a car boot sale for months! Tell people it’s for charity (you can hire a Walk the Walk banner from here) and watch that money roll in!
Dog Walking
Yes, I know it’s an old one, but why not make money from people happy for you to walk their family pet in exchange for sponsoring you? Leaves them time to enjoy their garden and visit the pub at long last, while you were going for a walk anyway weren’t you?
Updating your Fundraising Page
Use your fundraising page like a blog! As you go on your training walks, update your page with photos of the flora and fauna you encounter! Document your tussles with the mud, the wind, the sudden rain and, the sun, of course! Share your update with friends and family who will be interested in your journey to becoming ‘marathon’ fit! No need to ask for money – your page will do it for you as long as you share your progress every week or 2!
Sponsor a step!
Go retro! Make your fundraising affordable for everyone by getting sponsored 1p for every step you take. There’s an average of 2,000 steps in a mile, so there’s the potential to raise £524 from a marathon, £262 from a half marathon, £130 from 6.55 miles, and a whopping £1,048 from Over the Moon! What’s not to like about that?
Finally, sell bra pin badges!
Did you know that Walk the Walk have created the cutest pin badges in the shape of bras, in lots of colours and themes. You can buy a box of 50 badges for £24.99 plus postage from here, recommended price is £2 per badge, but many people give more (one Walker raised over £400 from her box!) and watch that fundraising rise!
