As the evenings draw in, make the most of the Autumn season with your fundraising!
As the evenings start drawing in, use September to plan some fantastic fundraising events and make the most of the start of Autumn by celebrating the harvest and the beauty of nature!
If you are taking part in a challenge in 2024 and need to raise money for it, then now is the time to start planning your fundraising events.
First, choose a type of event that you yourself enjoy and have been to... this way you have the right knowledge to organise one and will also have fun doing it!
Secondly, recruit people who can help with the event. If you have a team you have a readymade organising committee!
Things to plan for and consider:
Allocate responsibilities to your committee and schedule regular meetings. Consider if you can have additional activities to add extra fun and income to the event.

And don’t forget, FUNdraising is FUN!
Early Autumn ushers in the Harvest season! If you have the sort of green fingers that can grow veggies and fruit in your garden or allotment, then why not sell your surplus produce to raise funds for your epic challenge? There are lots of local markets around, or sell from your front garden to passers-by, people love fresh veggies! If you’re a keen cook, turn your harvest into something yummy and sell that too! Mmm, apple and blackberry crumble, what’s not to like?
After a long summer holiday... the autumn term has crept up on us again and the children head back to school. What better time to arrange a fundraiser!
Some schools are open to fundraisers, so how about organising an apple decorating competition, or for the younger children apple bobbing is always fun! Other good school fundraisers are ‘Wear Pink to school,’ a cake stall or decorating a biscuit to name just a few. And let’s not forget delicious Toffee Apples to please the big kid in us all!
What is a Safari Sale I hear you ask? It's a fun community event that gives you the chance to clear out your clutter!
If you live in a village or a close this could be a fun way for your community to raise money for charity! Invite your neighbours to hold a garage, tabletop or garden sale on the same day at the same time. The village will be able to enjoy an afternoon mooching through the things that you no longer use, all for a small donation. Anyone wanting to get involved pays to be promoted on a printed / online street map with the other vendors. You could offer tea and cake to make the most of your visitors. The longer they spend enjoying the afternoon, the more donations you are likely to receive for your fundraising pot. Nothing like refreshments to make you feel as though you have had a proper outing!
With so many areas of the world suffering unrest celebrate International Day of Peace by organising an event with a difference. Invite friends to prepare readings or poems, practice group meditation, and listen to World music. If you have a garden pond you can float tea lights sitting in orange or grapefruit skins to add a mystical feel. Make this a fundraiser by serving refreshments for a donation.
Easyfundraising is a great way to raise funds as you shop! Every time you shop online, use the Easyfundraising website to make your purchase and the retailer will make a donation to your favourite charity, Walk the Walk!
Adding to the fun, you now get a stamp every time a donation is made; 5 stamps and you get a reward either for you or for Walk the Walk! You can sign up here and watch that stamp card fill up!
If you have a fundraising event or activity planned, take a look at our extra bits and pieces to help you... If we can help in any way, please do get in touch!
