Patricia’s bucket collection raises hundreds of pounds for her MoonWalk Scotland fundraising

The generosity of folk never ceases to amaze me!

“I’m very excited to be taking on my 15th MoonWalk Scotland on Saturday 9th September. I’m hugely grateful to all the wonderful people who continue to help me with my fundraising after all these years!

I work at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh, who are one of my biggest supporters. For many years, the annual summer concert staged by the wonderful Scottish Fiddle Orchestra has taken place at the Usher Hall, coincidentally on the same night as The MoonWalk Scotland. My bosses and the Fiddle Orchestra have been so kind and allowed me to stage audience bucket collections for Walk the Walk after the concert every year. The overall total we’ve raised from these collections runs into several thousand pounds.

Although the concert isn’t on the same night as The MoonWalk in 2023, the collection still went ahead – and this time I was able to be there in person. Normally, I’m over at Holyrood Park, getting ready to start my walk and it’s been my colleagues at the Usher Hall who have shaken the buckets on my behalf!

Wow, wow, wow! I’m absolutely thrilled that this year’s collection raised an amazing £608.45. I’m very grateful to the wonderful Catriona and Susie from the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra for once again supporting my fundraising efforts.

A big shout out too, to Craig, Bob and Irene and the front of house team at the Usher for donning Walk the Walk caps alongside me, while holding their buckets. Your efforts made all the difference to the total.

The generosity of folk never ceases to amaze me – I simply can’t thank those audience members who dropped money in the buckets enough.

I’ll continue taking part in The MoonWalk Scotland and raising vital funds for as long as I’m able. I walk for my sister Anne-Marie, who sadly died from breast cancer in 2013 - I’m motivated by her memory and the fact that we need to keep on raising awareness of breast cancer.

I took a bad tumble during the event last year and sadly had to pull out. This year, I’m determined to finish my 15th MoonWalk and cross that finish line in one bit!” -Patricia
