November Fundraising Ideas

Brrr! There’s a chill in the air and the russet leaves are carpeting the woodland floor.

Now’s the time for indoor fundraisers, just make sure that rooms are properly ventilated and masks worn if necessary.

It’s not too late to organise a Bonfire Night fundraiser – sell hot soup and sparklers to get your fundraiser off to a twinkling start!

Amazon Smile

As our thoughts turn to the dreaded C word (Christmas I mean!) you can raise money every time you shop with Amazon. All you need do is register for Amazon Smile, add Smilematic to your browser, and you will be automatically redirected to Smile every time you log on to Amazon! Amazon will donate 0.5% as you shop and it costs you nothing! Read more about it here.

Here’s another way to raise money as you shop! Over 5,000 retailers will donate to Walk the Walk as you shop online, so register here and do your bit to make a difference! Read all about it here.

Come Dine with me

You’ve seen the TV programme right? It’s great fun, and a good socialiser when the weather gets cooler, and there’s no need to risk being in a large crowded venue! Decide how many people are taking part and then set the dates. Everyone takes a turn at cooking a 3 course meal and invites the others, who score the meal and entertainment out of 10. The person with the highest score wins!

So where’s the fundraising in this? Well, everyone taking part pays a donation per meal. You can decide how much beforehand, or, alternatively they can pay what they think the meal is worth!  Don’t forget to have some little ‘extras’ too, like a raffle, a guess the name of the bear competition, a quiz sheet or a book stall for example; the choice is yours!

Online or ‘actual’ Quiz

The lockdown certainly showed us that we don’t need to hire an expensive hall to raise money playing a quiz! Quizzes surged in popularity so jump on the bandwagon and arrange one either online, or hire a hall in the traditional way. Don’t forget to ask for a charity rate and maximise the event by having little extras to bolster than fundraising! You could also ask your local pub if they will support you with their quiz, or let you use the pub free of charge. You can get some free quiz questions by emailing [email protected]

Head Shave

Yes, I know winter is coming, but you can always wear your Walk the Walk beanie or bobble hat until your hair grows back! Many people will pay to sponsor this, and they might even pay to come and watch you lose your locks too! If your hair is very long you can even have fundraising targets on a ladder e.g. raise £200 and you have 4 inches cut off, raise £500 and have 10 inches cut, £1,000 gets it shaved off and £2,000 gets you a painted head!

Games Night – Monopoly anyone?

Light the fire, get some bottles of fizz and snacky bits, crack out the board games and invite your friends round for a cosy night in building hotels, deciding whodunnit or thinking of as many words as possible! Charge an entrance fee and have extras on the side to help boost your fundraising coffers!

Online Auctions

Auctions are a great way to raise money but you do need some nice prizes. These can be ‘real’ things like a nice Christmas Hamper, dinner for 2 at a local restaurant (speak to local suppliers for prizes) or people willing to donate their time or ‘promise.’ Prizes people have given in the past have been cooking for a dinner party for 8, painting a fence, loaning their canal barge for a weekend and writing a CV! Make up lovely bundles that people will want to bid on and run the auction for a week updating all the bidders as you go. Mind though, it can get very competitive!
