Marvellous May Fundraisers!

Use the warmer weather and the longer evenings to get your training in and raise money for people with breast cancer!

Summer is nearly here giving us the chance to use the balmy summer evenings to use outside space for fundraising events. Meet up with friends and family, have fun and raise much-needed funds for breast cancer charity Walk the Walk!

Apres MoonWalk Party!

You’ve taken part in the MoonWalk, got the T-shirt, the bra and the medal, plus loads of photos! Put them to good use! Invite your friends and family round for tea or Prosecco (the choice is yours!), and show off your fantastic achievement! People will love to see what you have done, and they will be happy to donate for a cuppa or glass of fizz and admire your bra and medal! A welcome addition to your fundraising!

Dog Show

During lockdown lots of people became dog owners and there are some seriously cute ones out there! Choose some open space in a park or village, or your garden if it’s big enough! (Check with the local council if it’s a public space.) Invite some stalls along for a donation and recruit some volunteers to serve drinks and snacks (you will need a liquor license if you serve alcohol, or include it in an entrance price!).

Decide on the classes, for example, Obstacle course, Waggiest tail, Dog most like its owner – you get the picture! Promote on your local village or town website, via facebook, posters and your little black book!

Mufti Day

If you work at a school or a company where a uniform or dress code is in place, have a mufti day! You need to get permission from the Head or Head Honcho first though. Invite everyone to wear what they like for a donation to your fundraising –charge what is appropriate for the organisation.

For extra spice have a theme: Dress in pink, Whacky hat, Dress down, Onesie Wednesday – the choice is yours!

Go for the Chop!

If you have long hair this is for you! Set a target and get people to sponsor you by the inch, for example, have an inch chopped for every £100 pledged! If your hair is long enough, you might be able to donate it to another charity too!

Pamper Evening

Go on, you love a girly night! Invite a few girlfriends round and provide essential oils, towels, creams and potions for an indulgent girly get together. A few chilled bottles of Prosecco will make the evening go with a swing. Ask for donations towards your fundraising or charge a participation fee!

Singalong/Karaoke Night

Most people love a sing song! Book a venue, or maybe use your lounge if it’s big enough. Download some backing tracks from YouTube in advance – Sing King Karaoke is an example – set up a screen and charge for entrance to a really fun evening! Provide refreshments and a raffle and watch that fundraising rise!

Sponsor a step!

Go retro! Make your fundraising affordable for everyone by getting sponsored 1p for every step you take. There’s an average of 2,000 steps in a mile, so there’s the potential to raise £524 from a marathon, £262 from a half marathon, £130 from 6.55 miles, and a whopping £1,048 from Over the Moon! What’s not to like about that?

Jubilee

With the Jubilee long weekend coming up, start planning for a fantastic fundraiser – what will it be – Summer Fair, Barbeque, Chees and Wine Evening, Picnic .. the choice is yours!
