Join friends Claire and Clare at the Virtual SunWalk Festival and set yourself a new walking goal!

Being in the fresh air definitely helps with my treatment, and I’m raising some money for such a great cause at the same time.

Close friends Claire Inglefield and Clare Gamble from Gloucestershire love signing up for a Walk the Walk challenge! They did The MoonWalk Iceland together in 2018 and the Virtual MoonWalk London earlier this year. Both ladies are huge Walk the Walk supporters, having been touched by breast cancer – Claire, her Mum and sister have all been diagnosed, as well as a good friend of Clare’s.

Inspired to raise more money for Walk the Walk, they also wanted the motivation of a new walking goal, especially as Claire goes through chemotherapy. And that’s where the Virtual SunWalk Festival came in – both ladies have signed up for the 100k challenge!

Here are their inspiring stories:-

Claire Inglefield:

“I got involved with Walk The Walk because, my Mum, sister and I all had breast cancer in our thirties. We later discovered we carried the BRCA 2 gene. Sadly, we found out too late for my sister. What we do now is so important for the next generations, to prevent them going through what we have.

I was also diagnosed with Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 2012. I'm having chemo at the moment, and walking keeps me going! Clare and I needed another challenge after walking the Virtual MoonWalk London and that’s why we signed up for the Virtual SunWalk Festival. Being in the fresh air definitely helps with my treatment, and I’m raising some money for such a great cause at the same time”.

 Clare Gamble:

“I initially got involved with doing the MoonWalks because I needed to do something to help Claire and another friend, Kate, who have both suffered at the hands of breast cancer and who now have other cancers as a result. Both of them are fighting against it and both are fit as fiddles - Claire through her walking and Kate by sea swimming every day of the year!
When Claire and I discussed doing The MoonWalk Scotland in 2018, we decided The MoonWalk Iceland seemed to be more of a challenge to us at the time and a chance to raise some money for Walk the Walk. And so the bug for challenges was born!
We did the Virtual MoonWalk  London half marathon back in May and thought we needed a new challenge, so signed up for the Virtual SunWalk Festival and the 100k. We will try to do it in 5 days to make it more of a challenge, but I need to be careful of knee and back pain from various problems.

Walking certainly helps me to keep fit mentally as well as physically and raising money for this much needed charity keeps me going when the days are tough.”

Why not join them and sign up now for the Virtual SunWalk Festival... between 31st July and 8th August. There’s a challenge for all ages and abilities... 5k, 10k and a Half Marathon (13.1 miles), all to be completed in one pop, or 100k, which can be spread over the week.
