Edinburgh goes pink to support The MoonWalk Scotland

Lloyds on the Mound and other famous landmarks will form part of the City’s striking pink skyline, as the Capital unites with Walk the Walk.

The Walk of Fame themed MoonWalk Scotland is being given an added Hollywood sparkle, as the historic Edinburgh Castle lights up pink. Lloyds on the Mound will also form part of the City’s striking pink skyline, as the Capital unites with Walk the Walk.

Also shining the big pink spotlight on our leading ladies and gentleman of this year’s MoonWalk Scotland whilst they raise awareness for breast cancer are: Camera Obscura, St Giles Cathedral, Queen Victoria at the National Galleries, the Royal Society of Edinburgh, the Melville Monument at St Andrew Square, Radisson Blu, The Balmoral and The Principal at Charlotte Square.

Once again, House of Fraser and Jenners will be offering all our fabulous Walkers and Volunteers mini-makeovers, ensuring each and every one of you are ready for your close-up. So head over to Princes Street, Edinburgh with your Walkers number or t-shirt and get either your eyes or lips glammed up courtesy of the beauty departments.

Smile for the camera and capture yourself with the pink glow tagging @WalktheWalk and #moonwalkscot. Whilst your taking photos, don’t forget to take a unique image of the MoonWalk Tartan Taxi and share on social media with @CityCabsEdin and #moonwalktaxi… every unique picture shared raises £5.00 for this year's MoonWalk Scotland!

And why is it so special for the iconic landmarks and buildings of Edinburgh to show their support? Nina Barough sums it up…

“Imagine as a ten year old, looking up at Edinburgh Castle or Lloyds on the Mound, knowing that they are lit up pink just for you – to give you a personal hug of encouragement, as you walk through the City’s streets! A huge thank you to the whole City of Edinburgh, including our friends at lighting company Black Light, for uniting with us against breast cancer and turning the City ‘MoonWalk’ pink”!

So thank you once again to the iconic landmarks and buildings of Edinburgh for lighting up pink in honour of the thousands of women, men and young Walkers taking part in the 13th MoonWalk Scotland.
