A musical twist to boost your fundraising!
I then came up with the idea… let my friends & colleagues sponsor me for £2 per song. They could choose the songs… my only rule was that it must have a good Walking beat to it.

This is my 6th year of undertaking walking events with Walk the Walk and raising sponsorship gets harder. My latest cunning plan to get sponsorship from my poor friends and colleagues came to me whilst driving to work one day.
I had just listened to another good “Walking” song on the radio and knew I would forget it by the time I’d reached work. That led me to thinking that I needed to create a good playlist… having completed London to Brighton in 2014 I knew how music got me through my bleak spot in the early hours of the morning. My only problem was when would I find the time to create a good playlist?
I then came up with the idea… let my friends & colleagues sponsor me for £2 per song. They could choose the songs… my only rule was that it must have a good Walking beat to it. By charging £2 a song that would cover the cost if I needed to purchase the songs… the minimum Walk the Walk would get would be £1 per song.
I launched the plan in the office & the buzz for the next couple of days was non-stop… the playlist developed quickly… to date I have around 60 songs on the playlist with many more people still thinking about which ones to put on there.
Yes, the playlist is varied – from the obvious “500 Miles” & “These Boots are Made for Walking” through to “Barbie Girl” & “Smelly Feet” (not sure what they are suggesting by this one!).
I have also agreed that if I don’t (or can’t bear to) listen to a song then I will pay a £2 fine. I think by the time I actually walk London 2 Brighton I will have raised around £150 on this idea alone.
Everyone seems to love this idea… the fact that they can be with me on the night… if not in person then in spirit… probably laughing at the thought of me listening to all these songs.
