A huge honour for Nina and Walk the Walk!

“I am so very excited and honoured to receive this honorary doctorate of the university."

Wow – what amazing news today (6th July 2016) for Walk the Walk and for Nina Barough, our Founder and Chief Executive!  Nina is in Edinburgh, home of The MoonWalk Scotland, and this morning received an Honorary Doctorate from Edinburgh Napier University in a very special ceremony.

Nina has been given some wonderful honours over the years, including the CBE for Services to healthcare in 2006 and Fundraiser of the Year at the Pride of Britain Awards in 2008. She said “I am so very excited and honoured to receive this honorary doctorate of the university. It is completely unexpected, but a wonderful and very special recognition of all that has been achieved by Walk the Walk and all its Walkers and supporters throughout Scotland and across the UK.”

Her Honorary Doctorate was presented in Edinburgh’s Usher Hall, in front of hundreds of students being awarded their own degrees. Four other inspirational people are also receiving Honorary Doctorates from Edinburgh Napier University this week for the significant impact they’ve made in the worlds of science, industry and the arts.

Congratulations Nina, everyone at Walk the Walk is very proud of you and your achievements! We just love your totally unique look - graduation robes with a decorated bra!

Thanks to everybody for being part of our amazing journey... what a fabulous way to help celebrate 20 years of Walking the Walk!
