Moonlight Walkers

These last two hours will test you now, your grit, determination... Just focus on that finish line, what joy, big smiles, elation!

We love this wonderful poem written for Walk the Walker Paula and her team ‘Crazy Cougars’ and wanted to share it with you all.

Paula’s sister Anne was inspired to write this for the team who took part in this year’s MoonWalk London in May... what a lovely way to celebrate their achievement!

MOONLIGHT WALKERS (The Longest Night)

In the war against the C Word, you walked the miles tonight,

You walked for brave and loving souls, who sadly lost their fight.

In the war against the C word, you braved the midnight air

And battled on with aches and pains to show how much you care.

The wind from the embankment is cold and travels far,

But is no contender for these girls in sequined bras!

Our team consists of Karen, there’s Heidi, Kay and Boo,

There’s also Debs and Karen – (more Karen?) yes, there’s two!

The team have trained for many months, through weather worse than this,

And will not be defeated by the night’s dark icy kiss.

In the war against the C word, with a long road far ahead,

There’s thought of being warm at home, hot tea, a comfy bed!

The longest night is almost day, look up the sky is lighting,

The birds are here to let you know, you’re not alone whilst fighting,

Their songs are coming down to you, confirming in your heart,

We will attack this C word and you have played your part.

These last two hours will test you now, your grit, determination,

Just focus on that finish line, what joy, big smiles, elation!

Well done you gorgeous Essex girls, our love sends out much praise,

For such a strong commitment and for all the funds you’ve raised.

Applause and love
