Ahead of National Walking Day on Wednesday 1 April, cancer charity, Walk the Walk, is calling on people across the country to lace up their trainers and join thousands of others participating in The MoonWalk London.
The charity’s flagship event takes place on the evening and night of Saturday 16 May 2026. Famous for its vibrant atmosphere and iconic decorated bras, The MoonWalk London offers participants a choice of 10K, 15.1 miles, or the full 26.2-mile overnight marathon.
Those taking part raise much-needed funds and awareness for people affected by breast and other cancers, while supporting prevention, early diagnosis and healthier lifestyles. The event starts and finishes at Clapham Common with participants walking past the capital’s most iconic landmarks, many of which are illuminated in pink for the occasion.
National Walking Day is the ideal moment for seasoned walkers and first-timers alike to kick-start their training. There’s plenty of time to build stamina, enjoy the wellbeing benefits of regular walking, and be part of something truly powerful this May.
The UK’s National Walking Ambassador and Walk the Walk Founder Nina Barough CBE said:
Walking is the most simple, accessible, transformative form of exercise there is. Every step our supporters take, today and in the lead-up to The MoonWalk London, helps us move closer to our goal of supporting research, care, and the mission against beating breast and other cancers.
With eight weeks remaining, and National Walking Day coming up, now is the perfect time to start walking and join our incredible community.
This year, Walk the Walk is proud to celebrate 30 years of making a difference. To mark this milestone, The MoonWalk London 2026 embraces a nostalgic nod to the Neon 90s — the decade the charity was founded. Walkers are encouraged to embrace the era with bold outfits, decorated bras, brightly coloured bra t-shirts and plenty of retro flair as they unite in support of people affected by cancer.
To encourage people go get moving, Walk the Walk is offering participants £10 off Full Moon and Half Moon entries until the eve of National Walking Day (31 March) and £5 off its 10K walk, new for 2026.
To sign up for The MoonWalk London 2026, in person and virtually in any area you choose, as well as to find out more information, visit the Walk the Walk website.
