We asked our men who are part of our Men Get Breast Cancer Too campaign how they discovered the symptoms that lead them to being diagnosed with breast cancer... this proved to be very interesting and informative so we thought we should share.
Andy's recent challenge was a virtual walk from Winchester to Edinburgh... 714km, which is exactly 17 marathons. Of course, what better way to finish the challenge than to do four Nijmegen virtual marathons... WOW!
As he was updating his Facebook to try to raise more money for Walk the Walk, he noticed that his brother-in-law Michael and sister-in-law Roisin had sponsored him a whopping £714! Andy said:
"I was blown away by this as he had joked he would sponsor me if I did it backwards, hopping on one leg with a grin on my face. As he's from Yorkshire I thought no more about it until I saw the donation. He is a Consultant and his wife is a Matron on an ICU ward and they had to cancel a big holiday, so decided to sponsor me. How lovely!"

We would love to include some of the funny things you may have seen, an act of kindness (from yourself or from someone else!), an inspiring quote, or something you have found that has helped you, in our regular newsletter during these difficult times. Email your message and keep your eyes peeled… yours may be showcased next!
"Creating awareness about male breast cancer since my diagnosis in 2015 has been a slow journey. For these prominent charities to be uniting with Walk the Walk to support our Men Get Breast Cancer Too campaign is a massive step forward!”
Ladies step aside, this is one for the men, the launch of the first UK Virtual Meet-up for men diagnosed with breast cancer. This new online resource is peer-led and is run by and for men who have had breast cancer. This is a wonderful opportunity for men to “meet,” share their experiences and to talk about the things that are important and unique to them.
Walk the Walk is very excited to be supporting this initiative with De Montfort University, ANCAN, and the Male Breast Cancer Coalition in launching the UK Virtual Meet-up.
The next Virtual Meet-up will be on Thursday 26th November 2020 at 8.00pm (20.00) UK time.
