PRESS RELEASE - Walk the Walk’s Men Get Breast Cancer Too campaign is five years old!

Breast cancer charity Walk the Walk - changing the conversation around male breast cancer

Changing the conversation: Walk the Walk’s Men Get Breast Cancer Too campaign is five years old!

It’s Male Breast Cancer Awareness Week and breast cancer charity Walk the Walk is celebrating five years of raising awareness that Men Get Breast Cancer Too.

Every year, around 400 men are diagnosed with the disease in the UK and more than 80 men will die.

Before the start of Walk the Walk’s campaign in 2017, breast cancer in men was rarely mentioned. However, five years on, charities, organisations and media outlets across the UK now regularly include men, when talking about breast cancer.

Walk the Walk is now collaborating with 11 cancer charities and a total of 24 men to raise awareness. Male breast cancer recently featured in a major story line on BBC soap EastEnders

Six men have been involved in Walk the Walk’s campaign since the start:-

  • Roy Collins (68) from East Sussex
  • Giles Cooper (61) from Gloucestershire
  • Richard Galloway (65) from The Wirral
  • Mike Greenhalgh (66) from Northamptonshire
  • Dave Talbot (65) from Bristol
  • Bryan Thorn (54) from Port Talbot
