We’re thrilled to announce that Chemotherapy Nurse Gemma Reeves has joined us as our new Walk the Walk Clinical Ambassador.
Gemma brings with her a wealth of frontline clinical experience, a passion for earlier cancer diagnosis and a determination to help improve outcomes for people affected by breast cancer.
From campaigning to joining the team
Many of you may already know Gemma from her campaigning to lower the routine NHS breast screening age from 50 to 40.
As a chemotherapy nurse, Gemma sees first-hand the impact breast cancer can have on individuals and their families. Her experience on the frontline has strengthened her belief in the importance of finding breast cancer as early as possible.
Gemma took her campaign all the way to Parliament, being part of a Westminster Hall debate about the need to review the current screening age.
For Gemma, the issue is personal to her work every day.
For me, it’s about finding breast cancer earlier, when treatment can potentially be less invasive and outcomes can be better.”

Bringing clinical experience to Walk the Walk
As our new Clinical Ambassador, Gemma will bring her knowledge and experience as a chemotherapy nurse to Walk the Walk’s work, helping us continue to raise awareness, share important health information and campaign for change.
Her clinical expertise will be particularly valuable as we continue conversations around breast cancer awareness, early diagnosis and breast screening.
We know that understanding the signs and symptoms of breast cancer, being aware of changes to your own body and accessing screening when invited can all play an important role in breast health.
Having someone with Gemma’s frontline experience alongside us will help us bring an informed clinical perspective to these conversations.

A shared passion for earlier diagnosis
At Walk the Walk, we believe in taking action to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.
Gemma’s campaign to lower the breast screening age aligns closely with our own commitment to improving early detection and giving people the information they need to take action about their health.
We’re incredibly excited to officially welcome Gemma to the Walk the Walk team and to work together to raise awareness, amplify important conversations and campaign for change.
Welcome to the team, Gemma!
