Route Map…

Find out where you will be MoonWalking and all the sights you are going to see… Route Map can be found here.

Have you decorated your bra?

This may be your very first time, but whatever you do, don’t stress about it, just have fun! Share with us how you will be decorating bra or even Bra T-shirt across our social media using #MoonWalkLondon

We can’t wait to see your ‘Musical Extravaganza’ creations… but as we say anything goes at The MoonWalk… whatever tickles your fancy!

Click here for some decorating tips.

A  HUGE Thank you to Timpson!

Look out for your Timpson offer… Once you have recovered from your MoonWalking challenge, take your medal to any Timpson shop in the UK, show them your Voucher, and they will engrave the back of your medal with your Name and your Finishing Time for just £5.00 (normally £10.00 – £15.00)… making happy MoonWalk memories!

Your All Weather Poncho… an important piece of kit

Don’t forget your all Weather Poncho… It might look like a bit of plastic (biodegradable of course) but this is a truly amazing all-rounder bit of kit and is good for wet, windy and cool weather.

If you do begin to feel cool, wearing an all-weather poncho can warm you up in no time. Wear it over the top of your fabulously decorated bra, or MoonWalk T-shirt and if you still feel cold after walking for a few minutes, belt your bumbag over the top to keep the plastic close to your skin. As I am sure you know, most of your body heat is lost through the top of your head, so, put the poncho hood up underneath your cap, and you are guaranteed to feel warmer within minutes!

If you have already used the one we sent to you whilst training, or you forget it on the night… We will have limited stock available for a minimum £3.00 donation.

Even if the MoonWalk weekend daytime weather is warm, tiredness can make you feel cold, even when the sun is shining!… Make sure you bring a few extra layers including a long-sleeved sweatshirt that you can tie around your waist, so you have something to put on as soon as you need it. Plus, even if the morning is gorgeous, when you finally reach the Finish Line and come to a stop, your body will cool down quite rapidly and you will need some warm clothes.

DO NOT FORGET YOUR SUNSCREEN, the sun can be extremely intense in the early hours and the last thing you want is a red face and a burnt nose on your Finish Line photo!

Fill your own water bottle or buy a Walk the Walk bottle on the night!

Water is in plentiful supply at the MoonWalk both on Clapham Common and at our Service Stations out on the route.

As always, it is a careful balance to support the need for everyone to have easy and quick access to water for all our health and safety reasons, but also to meet our environmental ambitions.

Bring your own water bottle, or buy a Walk the Walk bottle, and fill it on-site before you start your challenge. However, on the route we know if water is not readily available at speed people do not drink, so bottles will be available on the route. We will have accessible bins by the water station so you can transfer the water into your own bottle, and by putting the bottle into the bin, make it readily available to be collected and recycled.

As you can see, we are offering everyone the opportunity to fill up their own water bottles whilst in the MoonWalk Arena… If you are looking for a new water bottle… read on!

Our Eco bottle is made in the UK from sustainable material and manufactured using renewable energy, is recyclable, BPA free and dishwasher safe… what’s not to love!

For those that prefer, we also have a stainless steel option that is long-lasting and can take hot and cold drinks! Both bottles will be available to purchase on the night!

Have a drink on us!

When you cross the Finish Line make sure you use your hot drink voucher attached to your walker number.

You can take this to any of the stalls in the Food Village, we might not be able to offer you champagne, but you can swap it for any hot drink of your choice. Enjoy!

Meet Up Point…

For any ‘Solo Walkers’ out there (remember you are never alone at a MoonWalk!) or you just want a place to meet up with others then head for the ‘Meeting Flag’ situated at the ‘Photo Banner’ and have fun catching up with old and new friends as you get ready to set out on your challenge!

POP UP SHOPS…

Look out for our POP UP SHOPS selling all sorts of goodies including our famous Hoodies… Buffs… Eco Water Bottles… Bumbags and Bottle Holders… Arm Warmers… Pom Hats… WTW Lanyards… Glow in the dark rings and lots more!

Cash or Card!

Just to let you know that across the MoonWalk we will be accepting cash or cards… So whether you want to buy food, drink, or something from the POP UP SHOP, or you just want to make a donation, we will be taking both forms of payment!

Important Information about Walking Poles!

We just want to mention that Walk the Walk DO NOT allow Walking Poles on this challenge. Albeit unintentional, they can be extremely dangerous and cause injury, when used on busy streets where other walkers can be close to you.

Our Volunteer Marshalls, if they see anyone using Walking Poles are instructed to request any are handed over to the Volunteers, who will then ensure they are returned to the Volunteer Tent at MoonWalk Arena where you can collect them up on your return.

Walking sticks are permitted, and if you need to use any kind of walking aid, please do get in touch with our Walker Support Team so they can ensure that the relevant people are made aware of your needs.

At Walk the Walk, we know that great fuel filled food is just as important as a great challenge! That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce this year’s Food Village at The MoonWalk London on May 17th. A handpicked selection of incredible street food vendors bringing fresh, high-quality, delicious flavours to the MoonWalk Arena to purchase on the night from when you arrive all the way to the last person crossing the Finish Line… there is something for everyone to enjoy. Find out more.

Recovery and Waiting Area…

As you know the MoonWalk Arena is all ‘alfresco’, so we will be keeping an eye on the weather closer to the time, but on returning from your challenge… if you are looking for somewhere to shelter whilst waiting for friends or transport, look for the pink tent near the stage, you are most welcome to use it to rest a while or wait for someone.

The MoonWalk Area is in the pink…

The MoonWalk London 2025 takes place under the stars, there will be flags, sparkling lights, and even the stage will be ablaze with that well-known MoonWalk spirit and fun!

Plus, we have a few surprises up our sleeves which we will reveal in due course… It’s going to be as incredible as ever and we can’t wait to celebrate with you at our MoonWalk… Bring it on!

How and When to Enter the MoonWalk…

As you will probably be organising your transport, we thought it would be helpful to give you some information about how to get into the MoonWalk and the starting times!

When you receive your pack (you may have already, but some are still on there way), amongst other things, you will receive your Walker Number. This number is unique to you so it must not be passed on to anyone else. The colour of this number will let you know what time you should arrive and the time of your Start Time. As you reach the entrance to the MoonWalk on the night you will be given a Wristband which must match the colour of your Walker Number, which you will need to put on your wrist before you can pass through into the Arena.

A little closer to the event, we will email you all the information you need to have a fantastic MoonWalk!

It is worth mentioning now so that you can plan ahead, that only 1 small bag per person will be allowed into MoonWalk Arena. This must hold all your essential items that can be stowed overnight whilst you walk. The bag must not exceed 40cm x 55cm in size. More information on this will be shared closer to the night.

Get ready to party at the MoonWalk! 🎉

Our Moonwalk’s just got dramatic… Are you ready to sing along? This year our MoonWalk theme is the Wonderful World of MUSICALS!

Choose your favourite, from Rocky Horror to Cinderella, get out the fringing and feathers and cover your bra with colour and fun! We can’t wait to see what you all come up with!

Clothes and shoes

Make  sure you wear the right clothes. From the inside out, wear breathable layers, not too many. Possibly a base layer and light polar fleece as you will heat up as you walk. Make sure you have a waterproof and windproof jacket with a hood, and if necessary waterproof trousers.

If like me you suffer from cold hands gloves are essential, as our extremities can really feel the cold, even if the rest of you is warm. Try using a small reusable heat pad in each glove.

Carry a water bottle with you at all times. If cold water in the winter isn’t for you, I recommend adding mint or fresh ginger and hot water to make a really comforting drink. Remember to sip little and often rather than gulp it all down.

A buff or scarf over your mouth can help especially when the temperature drops. Given that we lose 7 – 10% of our heat through our head, I also recommend wearing a pull on beanie that you can then pull your jacket hood over the top of, if you need to. Finally, don’t forget lip salve it’s a must when it’s cold.

But, we’re all different, getting the right combination for you is vital. Overheating and then having cold sweat next to your body becomes really uncomfortable and very unpleasant in winter. If you’re not sure, take a light day pack that you can carry either an extra layer, or discard clothing if you need to.

When it comes to your feet, no matter what terrain you are walking it is best to have Gore-tex of waterproof trainers, trail shoes or walking boots, to avoid having wet feet.

If you have the right clothing to hand, winter walking can be exhilarating whatever the weather and look at the benefits!

Boosting your immune system

Because being active boosts your immune system and makes it work harder, in turn it decreases your chances of catching colds and other winter viruses.

Release stress and improve your mood

If you are someone who suffers the winter blues or SAD as it is known, then a brisk walk could be just the answer to get your endorphins or ‘happy hormones’ working. When the wind is blowing or the temperature drops, it can be very tempting to stay cosy inside. But, walking outside even for 15 minutes can help blow away the cobwebs as the old saying goes, and have a profound impact on your mood and wellbeing.

Burn calories

Because your body’s metabolism will have to work harder to keep warm, you will burn more calories. At the same time, by increasing your heart rate and turning your walk into an aerobic workout you’re supporting your heart health… Just keep an eye on the warming hot chocolate at the end of your walk!

Have you got the right shoes?

Whether you’re Walking or Volunteering if you are considering buying some walking shoes make sure you check out our top tips on finding the right shoe for you.

That’s it for now, keep your eyes peeled for more Sneaky Peeks and news in our next email, and we’ll be back in touch again soon. If you have any questions or just want to chat, drop us an email or give us a call on 01483 741430.

We would love to hear from you… Happy walking!
