WOW! What A Picture…what will you share?! 😊

No matter what role you play at the MoonWalk Scotland, we want to see YOU in action! Our WOW! What A Picture competition is back and it’s your chance to show off your most unforgettable Volunteering moments.

Whether it’s pure emotion, non-stop fun, or something totally unexpected, every photo tells a story and we want to see yours! Will you be dancing at MoonWalk Arena, cruising the Route in one of our Bra Cars, cheering on Walkers and posing by one of the many landmarks lit up pink in our honour… whatever your moment, live it, capture it and share it!

But why, you may ask? Well, here’s the truth! Your photos tell the real story of the MoonWalk Scotland. As a Volunteer, you are at the heart of the action, the energy, the emotion, and the laughter. This competition is your chance to capture and share those unforgettable highlights, celebrating your incredible contribution and showing us what Volunteering at the MoonWalk is truly all about.

Tag us on socials using #MoonWalkScot and send your entries (the more the merrier!) to [email protected]. The most original snap or film will win some fantastic Walk the Walk prizes… now that really is worth staying up all night for!

Volunteering is an amazing way to get involved and make a difference and we know from experience, feeling prepared with a little planning goes a long way! Whether it’s your first time Volunteering with us at Walk the Walk or you’ve supported a MoonWalk before, here are our simple tips we hope will help you feel ready, relaxed, and set up to have a great experience 😊

BE PREPARED!

Being prepared is having all the necessary kit that you will need to support you on a MoonWalk. Be comfortable in your clothing (you will receive your Volunteer Uniform after Registration) and bring with you whatever you need to get you through the night!

WRAP UP!

No matter what the weather you probably need more layers than you think so please consider the following:

  • Warm clothes – including base layers / hats / gloves
  • Waterproof trousers and jacket
  • Comfortable shoes and change of socks
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen / lip salve

FOOD & DRINK

Eat a proper, preferably hot meal before you arrive on site and come well equipped with some supplies. It’s always a good idea to bring a hot drink or soup in a flask, and a few of your favourite goodies and snacks to keep you going! Mobile catering will also be available to you.

PORTABLE PHONE CHARGER

Bring a portable phone charger with you to keep your phone topped up all night so you can contact (and they can contact you!) the Call Centre throughout your shift.

KNOW WHERE THINGS ARE

Make sure you know where all the essential facilities are both in and around the area where you are Volunteering – more information will be found on your Role Briefing Notes and Volunteer Handbook (due out to you shortly!).

ASK QUESTIONS

Anything you are unsure of, please don’t hesitate to ask the Volunteers Team or Call Centre on the night. Our job is to help you and no question will be too big or too small! Please do reach out at any time – [email protected] or call us on 01483 741430.

AND FINALLY… HAVE FUN!

You are helping hundreds of people to not only reach a personal goal but to also raise awareness and vital funds. Have a great time and remember, we couldn’t do it without you! 💕

Hello! We are Becki and Lauren, and we are very privileged to work within the Walk the Walk Volunteers Team 👋 You may have spotted us at a MoonWalk beforeand here are we are! With only a few months to go before our final trip to Edinburgh for the MoonWalk Scotland, ahead of going on tour to a new city, we thought we’d pop up here to say hello to you all!

Hi! I’m Becki, the Volunteers Lead

The power of Volunteering is simple: real people making real change. Volunteers are special because they choose to help and care, giving their invaluable time, energy and compassion to people and causes that need it the most. Our Volunteers are the heart of the Walk the Walk family and each one brings something amazing to our events. As I head into my fourth MoonWalk, I honestly can’t wait! The energy, the spirit, the kindness… it’s simply unforgettable. Seeing our incredible Volunteers and Walkers come together is nothing short of magic and I feel so very honoured and proud to be part of it all.

Hi! I’m Lauren, Events & Volunteers Co-Ordinator

Working with our wonderful Volunteers is truly the highlight of my role too! Their dedication, passion, and boundless energy never ceases to amaze and inspire me. Every single Walk the Walk Volunteer goes above and beyond to create the most uplifting and unforgettable atmosphere at our MoonWalks and other events. It is thanks to their commitment and enthusiasm that make it so special for everyone involved. I feel so fortunate to be part of a team and cause that make such a meaningful difference. I am excited to continue this journey, working alongside our inspiring Volunteers and Walkers who help to raise awareness and vital funds, helping those living with cancer now.

That’s all from us for now 😊

If anyone you know is interested in Volunteering with Walk the Walk or have questions about what it’s like to help us at one of our events, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We can be contacted via email or in the office on 01483 741430.

Volunteer Registrations for the MoonWalk Scotland are still open so please do send them our way if you have someone supporting you in September or know someone who’d like to help us leave Edinburgh with a bang… we’d love to hear from them!

Wishing our Walkers all the very best with their training.

We look forward to seeing you there!

With love from

Becki & Lauren
