The Over The Moon Challenge is Walk the Walk's very own unique ultra-marathon and the longest MoonWalk distance... this is the ultimate MoonWalk endurance challenge!

2021 brings you the first ever Virtual MoonWalk London... we are going ‘Out of this world’ and into the future with our theme... the universe is your intergalactic oyster!

In Walk the Walk’s unique style, we intend to make this an exciting and unforgettable experience and a Virtual challenge where you can really help to make a difference to the devastating impact that COVID-19 is having on those living with cancer.

With 4 distances from 6.55 to 52.4 miles... there is something for everyone... which will you choose!

Thousands of walkers coming together in spirit across the country, and indeed the world, and in one common goal, all by Walking the Walk in your very own local area... WOW... what an incredible experience to share… and a formidable sight to see!

Every mile you walk, and every penny you raise will make a difference!

Walk with us… Raise money for us… together we can really make a difference!

What do I get for my entry fee

For your entry fee you will receive your full walker pack - a unique event t-shirt (white for the ladies and pink for the men) and cap, a bra to decorate, a space blanket, training and safety advice, Walk the Walk support all the way from registration to event... and a medal will be posted to you upon proof of completing the challenge.

Why is the Over the Moon a Virtual Event?

We are living in extraordinary and stressful times, but whatever your age and wherever you are, it is more important than ever to look after your own emotional and physical well-being, to take control of those parts of your life that you can, and together, to do what we can to support those not only living through this pandemic but also cancer. Read more here.

If you need any help, then please get in touch.

Is there a time limit on the challenge?

The Full Moon Ultra challenge takes place over the weekend of the 15th and 16th May 2021. The total distance must be completed in 2 marathon distances of 26.2 miles and completed within 36 hours of the official Start Time on Saturday 15th May – and completed by the official Finish Time on the 16th May. By logging in your first marathon distance, it will enable you to also receive your MoonWalk Marathon Medal as well as your Over The Moon Medal for the overall challenge!

We will be confirming what the Start and Finish times are in due course, but as we will not be there to support you in person, we do request that your challenge is completed in daylight hours.

This might be a virtual event but we and all your fellow Virtual Walkers will be with you all the way!

Everything to do with teams

Please note: Teams are just for fundraising purposes only. If you are not fundraising together then no team is required. If anyone would like to do Over the Moon this will need to be an individual or in a team of Over the Mooners. Any queries regarding this please email [email protected]

How do we fundraise as a team

Before registering decide on a team name and a team leader. Team leader registers first and creates the team. If you would like to join an existing team you can register by searching for the team name in join team on the registration form.

If you register as an individual, you will not be able to join an existing team fundraising page after you complete your registration. Please contact [email protected] and we will tell you next steps.

There are 2 ways to enter your Team Members.

1- After entering the team name, you can then enter the email addresses of your team and they will receive an email inviting them to join. They will need to pay for their own places and complete their registration.

2 - Or after the Team Leader has registered, you can continue and choose how many Team members you would like to enter and pay for. You will need each persons details

What is the fundraising target for a team?

We ask that everyone who enters The Virtual Over the Moon Ultra aims to raise a minimum of £200.

Any further questions?

Please email us and we will be in touch.

All about the fundraising...

Our mission is simple... A £1 million appeal

For many, cancer has become isolating and unbearable, help us to make a much needed difference now, when it is needed most for those living with cancer!

Plus… to keep everyone walking, fit, healthy and motivated… key ingredients to prevention of cancer!

We can only do this, if we do it together…

We ask that everyone who enters The Virtual Over The Moon Ultra aims to raise a minimum of £200.

Here are a few ways to help you reach that magic figure!

  • Share your online page with friends and family. Make the most of it by following our handy hints.
  • Exchange your time for donations e.g. walking your neighbour’s dog, washing cars.
  • Give something up for sponsorship! Go without your favourite treats for a month. Chocolate, alcohol, cake? Can you manage it?
  • Check out our ten top tips here!
  • And finally… our seasonal tips here!

Online Fundraising is perfect for these COVID times!

You already have an online Fundraising page set up so make the most of it!

  1. Make sure you upload a photo of you, so your friends and family can see it’s you!
  2. Tell your story! Why are you taking part? Many people walk in memory of someone dear to them, or you could be celebrating your all clear! Or maybe just escaping the COVID blues and getting fit and healthy into the bargain.
  3. Make a reasonable size donation first yourself as this sets the standard for those to follow. You make a £25 donation – many will follow you and donate the same amount.
  4. Update your page with progress. So, those new trainers, click and post; that soggy training walk; click and post; your decorated bra, click and post! You get the idea!
  5. Share your post regularly – every time you update it, share it, so everyone can see your progress and commitment! No need to ask for donations, your page will do it for you!
  6. Say thank you! Every time someone supports you be sure to say thank you so they feel appreciated and loved!
  7. Share! Share! Share!
