Walk June's Monster Journey... where will it take you?

Pink Bra 96X59px

In honour of beautiful Scotland this month's challenge brings you June's Monster Journey... it's all about distance and for the first time, hills!

All roads leave from Holyrood, the home of the MoonWalk Scotland, and take you on a virtual walking tour through some glorious locations. Aside from hill walking technique, for medal entries, we will email a weekly postcard with tips, plus the opportunity to enter our competition, find out more below.

Choose your distance from below and complete your challenge by the 4th July 2021.

Take it Steady! - Holyrood to Loch Lomond and all the way around... 102 miles!

Ramp it Up! - Holyrood to Inverness... via Loch Lomond and Loch Ness... 208 miles!

Intensity! - Holyrood to the John O'Groats signpost... 283 miles!

Remember, it's virtual, so you don't have to be in these places... but, oh how we wish we were! Walking is a gift at any time, why not share this challenge with friends and family. Plus, if you are already taking part in our Virtual MoonWalk Scotland, you can use your MoonWalk Scotland miles towards this challenge... double the fun and double the medals!

You can choose the option of Walk the Walk support plus being the first to receive the Monthly Challenge Summer medals, or you can do it purely for the love of Walking with our Free option.

Every mile you walk is good for you and will help those living with cancer!

The Monthly Challenge and 'June's Monster Journey!'

Each month, Walk the Walk bring you a different walking challenge. Created not only as a way to keep you fitter, healthier and motivated to keep moving, but to also develop your walking skills. This month is all about going the distance and climbing some hills!

If you are lucky enough to have natural hills around, you are all set, if not don't worry, we can help you with some clever alternatives. The important thing is walking, being active, increasing your heart rate a little more, and having fun.

How will the challenge be tracked?

What is Strava?

Strava is a free app to download, that uses GPS to record your distance walked... this is automatically connected to your online fundraising page on entry.

How do I get it?

You can connect your Strava account when you create your online fundraising page or later on via the "Connect to Strava" button on your fundraising page. This will be visible when you are logged in.

IMPORTANT! Your Strava settings!

When you are completing your challenge miles, ensure Strava is set to 'Everyone' and select 'walk' as the activity otherwise the miles may not be logged on your fundraising page. We can then track your miles to show you have achieved your goal!

For all other training or non-challenge walks set Strava to 'private'.

What if I can't or do not want to use Strava or want to use another device to track my distance?

If you are using a different measuring device please take a picture or a screenshot of your activity. Whilst you are logged into your fundraising page you can then add each of your walks as a manual activity to your page and add this photo to each activity, which will then be included in your total mileage. Click here for instructions for mobile upload or computer upload.

This must be received by 7th July 2021

Once we have notification your challenge is completed we will send an online certificate and your well-deserved medal will follow in the post.

Proof of completing the June's Monster Journey Challenge

Is there a deadline for giving in my proof of completion?

Yes. This date is the 7th July 2021

What will happen if I don’t get my proof of completion to you in time?

We will send you an email to remind you a few days before the deadline to send in your proof of completion. If we do not receive this in time we will be unable to send you your medal.
