  1. What are the 2020 challenge costs?

    The total challenge cost for 2020 is £3,590 (Costs remain the same as in 2019!)

    Challenge Deposit: £420 

    The cost is based on 2 people sharing a twin room* and dormitories on the trail itself (single room not available).

     

    Please Note: The cost of your package has been calculated at the time of the event launch in May 2019. Due to the possible fluctuations in the financial market, for the forthcoming year (2020) and the value of the GBP against the US Dollar, please be aware that should the exchange rate fluctuate above 3% on the cost of the challenge, the charity will, unfortunately, be forced to pass on any increase in costs (or reduce your costs for any decrease if applicable). The final price will be confirmed to you prior to the Final Balance being due, any costs below 3% will be covered by Walk the Walk in Action and will not be passed on. The fluctuations of currency are out of our control, we will keep you informed of any changes.

    *In the event that the ratio of female/male applicants does not match the availability of twin rooms, a single room supplement will apply.

    This also includes protection by health and safety laws, trade description legislation, contract laws and package holidays regulations.

  3. What's not included...

    • Travel Insurance
    • Meals on travel days 1 & 5
    • Personal spending money including other drinks than those provided
    • Overseas registrations will incur additional postage and packaging charges

  4. Walk for Free!

    At Walk the Walk if you excel in your fundraising, to thank you for supporting us, we can refund your Tour Costs for the Arctic Challenge. If you intend to raise £2500 or more, then you will be eligible for a potential refund of some of your Tour Costs - please get in touch with the Unique Challenges Team for more details!

    Minimum amount to be raised £750

    Raise £2,500 & WTW will refund £520
    Raise £3,000 & WTW will refund £820

    All Walkers can raise up to £2,999.99 and receive a Refund based on the above breakdown. If you would like to receive a refund of more than £1,000 this means that you will be classed as a Professional Fundraiser under the Charities Act 1992, Section 60. This only applies to you if you intend to raise £4,000 or more and intend to accept the refund.  

    If you would like to receive a Refund of your Tour Costs and intend to raise £4,000 or more, you are required to complete a separate document within 14 days of applying/registering; this is in accordance with the Charity Commission and Charities Act 1992.     Raise £4,000 & WTW will refund £1,220
    Raise £5,000 & WTW will refund £1,870
    Raise £6,000 & WTW will refund £2,520
    Raise £7,000 & WTW will refund £3,170

    The maximum amount that can be refunded to any Walker is the total paid for the standard 5-night stay. This does not include the Deposit, Walker Pack & Kit Fee, booking fee, insurance or personal spending.

  5. How can I pay?

    There are 3 ways to pay:

    1. Pay in full when registering

    2. Pay the deposit followed by 2 instalments:

    Whilst skiing is not essential, other kit is... 

    Non Skiers - previous skiing experience is not necessary but a minimum of a Grade 4 certificate is required by your local dry slope.

    Essential Kit 

    Please note not all downhill skiing equipment will be sufficient for the conditions. A full kit list will be sent to you, but if you need any guidance please get in touch with the Unique Challenge team who will be happy to help.

    Here's some of the kit:

    • High quality Ski Gloves or Mittens suitable for minus 15 conditions
    • Windproof trousers or ski trousers
    • Gortex windproof jacket
    • Down jacket or equal quality
    • Thermals/Base Layers - 2 sets of long sleeved
