January Fundraising Ideas - Get That Fundraising Going!

Brrr! As the temperature drops there can be nothing nicer than reaching for a cosy coat, hat, scarf and gloves and heading out for a brisk walk to get the circulation going!

It’s also a great time for planning your fundraising as you sit in front of a warm fire with a cup of hot chocolate afterwards!

Give it up!

What with New Year resolutions and a need to return to a more normal life after the excesses of Christmas, now is the perfect time to give up anything naughty such as eating chocolate, drinking wine, or smoking, or eating sweets, or red meat etc  – the list is endless and the choice is yours!

Or give up talking for 24 hours, or singing or dancing, and watch your fundraising get off to a good start as you inspire your friends and family with your determination! And, you could donate your savings to your fundraising page too!

Knitting!

If you’re a keen knitter, it’s not too late to knit warm woolly hats gloves and scarves for those brisk winter walks. Sell to your friends and neighbours through Facebook Marketplace, a local website or even your fundraising page!

Got a birthday coming up?

Why not ask for donations to your fundraising page instead of gifts? You can set up a simple fundraiser on Facebook and put the funds raised towards your challenge goal! Just drop us a line at [email protected] so we know who to allocate the money to!  Make sure that you choose Walk the Walk though!

Put that Fundraising Page to Work!

A photo of you and the reason you’re taking part in the Challenge can increase your fundraising by as much as 70%!  Share your page first by telling everyone what you’re up to and how they can help.  Update your page regularly with details of your progress: new trainers; first training walks; your walking companions; the weather; your progress, and share regularly by your social media of choice.  No need to ask for sponsorship again though as your page will do it for you!

So, Update and share, share share!

Unwanted gifts

We all get those gifts that we really don’t need, so instead of leaving them at the back of your cupboard, you could sell them through eBay or Facebook marketplace and put the proceeds on your online fundraising page? Friends and family may be happy to give you their unwanted gifts too!

Another way to make use of any unwanted gifts is to use them to make up raffle prizes for a grand raffle to be held at an event you are planning in the future, or to have at work.

Walk the Walk Bra Pin Badges

You can purchase a box of these for £24.99 and give them out in exchange for a suggested donation of a minimum of £2 each, which would generate a total of £75.00 plus donation per box! And, many people will make a bigger donation! Visit our website here for more details.

Charity of the Year

Could you nominate Walk the Walk as your company or organisation's Charity of the Year... meaning that any money raised for charity throughout the year could be donated to Walk the Walk? This is a great way to raise awareness of the importance of checking your breasts and raising some much needed cash!

Valentines Ready

It’s never too early to get ready for Valentine’s Day! This is a great time to create a little hamper of chocolates, or heart shaped biscuits, and a bottle of Fizz to raffle off at work or on social media. Gather everything together in a box or basket, with a bottle of pink fizz, cover in some red cellophane with a big red bow and you’re ready! If you are feeling creative, you could make your own heart shaped biscuits or chocolates! Of course, you may have to try them before you put them in the box, just don’t eat them all!

If you have a fundraising event or activity planned, take a look at our list of little extra to help you make the event a success.
