15,000 women and men from across the UK are preparing to saddle up for this year’s Wild West themed MoonWalk London, as they aim to raise £6 million, to help fight breast cancer.

The 21st MoonWalk London starts at Clapham Common at Midnight on Saturday 12th May, with walkers wearing decorated bras and specially designed cowboy hats. Ahead of their challenge, they will limber up by taking part in what is thought to be the UK’s biggest-ever line dance.

Organised by grant-making breast cancer charity, Walk the Walk, The MoonWalk London is the original and best night time walking event, which will see people of all ages walking either a Half Moon (13.1 + 2 miles), or Full Moon (26.2 miles) through the streets of the Capital City.

Some of London’s most spectacular landmarks will be lit up pink especially for The MoonWalk, including the Coca-Cola London Eye, HMS Belfast, Sky Garden, County Hall, Waterloo Bridge and Hungerford Bridge. It is hoped this will give every Walker a massive pink hug of encouragement as they make their way around the route.

Walk the Walk will be highlighting the fact that men get breast cancer too at this year’s MoonWalk, through uniquely created t-shirts featuring blue bras, which have been sent to all male walkers.

Walk the Walk Founder and Chief Executive Nina Barough CBE said: “We are so excited about this year’s MoonWalk and we can’t wait to meet all our fantastic Walkers! It is a night like no other, with 15,000 women and men proudly wearing their decorated bras as we all unite together against breast cancer. Huge leaps forward have been made with our knowledge for early detection, diagnosis and treatment, giving those with primary cancers choices and every chance of a life after the disease.  Our aim is to now firmly focus on giving those with secondary cancers that same choice of treatment and that choice of life. It is thanks to each and every one of our Walkers that we are able to make grants to organisations that can make these changes happen.”

Walk the Walk has raised more than £123 million since 1996, with the money granted funding both research into breast cancer and to help improve the lives of those living with cancer now.

The MoonWalk London raises money and awareness for breast cancer charity, Walk the Walk. Register your interest for The MoonWalk London 2019, taking place on Saturday 11th May, at www.walkthewalk.org
