We’re heading to the home of the leprechauns and chasing the 4 leaf clover for the amazing Dublin Marathon! Help us turn the Irish heartland pink this breast cancer awareness month, as we bring out the bras and Power Walk in the Irish capital. It’s an irresistible challenge and we are back for the second time in 2017!
This is a great weekend in a city famous for its beautiful surroundings, its rich cultural history, its Irish dancing, the folk music, its shopping and perhaps most of all, for the wonderful Irish spirit and hospitality... oh the charm of the Irish! So many sights and highlights to experience in this vibrant, cosmopolitan city!
The hotel, the city, the shopping! The Marathon! The people, such a friendly bunch and the support is brilliant!- Gill
We will be staying in a 5* hotel in the heart of Dublin. You’ll be in great surroundings amidst the cobbled streets and Georgian architecture, home to literary legends Oscar Wilde and WB Yeats! The package includes a welcoming Afternoon Tea with all the Walk the Walk Team, and a 3 course Pasta Party the night before the big Marathon day! Throughout the weekend you will have time to wander and explore the city; shop till you drop in the capital's luxury flagship and boutique stores, perhaps choose a city tour or visit it's popular tourist spots, Kilmainham Gaol and the famous Guinness Storehouse, or just relax... this trip is what you make it!
This is a great city Marathon for any Walker looking for the next step up following the MoonWalks. You will need to aim for a walking speed of 14 minute miles to complete the Marathon within 6 - 6.5 hours, for the very best Marathon experience... trust us, we've been there and done it. With the training, commitment and lots of tips from the team at Walk the Walk, this is certainly achievable. Walking in a fantastic city such as this would also be a great first taste of the international Marathon scene, that isn’t too far from home!
Growing in popularity, with over 19,000 participants, we feel it is one of Ireland’s hidden treasures; it is a largely flat course and a classic city loop. Passing through many of Dublin’s famous Georgian streets, starting near the famous Trinity College, crossing the city, north and south of the river Liffy. It goes through the beautiful Phoenix Park, Europe’s largest urban park… you can even try and spot the tigers as you Walk past the famous zoo!
So come and join us on what is probably one of the best weekends away, all while raising money and awareness for breast cancer, getting fit and having loads of Walk the Walk fun!
Thanks for a brilliant weekend, well organised, great support, would definitely recommend.- Wendy
