Keep an ear on your local airwaves! To celebrate 20 years of the iconic MoonWalk London, today Nina is talking to radio stations across the country. Listen to what she has to say about The MoonWalk London and the results of a survey commissioned by Walk the Walk, looking at attitudes to walking.
Did you know? Nina is the UK’s leading Power Walking Expert and she has released a new version of her book Walking for Fitness. Updates include new training plans and sections on technical devices which can help those walking for exercise. Statistics show that exercise and healthy eating are fundamental in helping to prevent many diseases, including breast cancer.
The survey showed that 25% of people do not think they are fit enough to take part in a walking challenge, 1 in 5 (20%) said they never walk for exercise and only 45% own a pair of trainers/exercise shoes. Nina believes it is so important to encourage people to take control of their own well-being and wants to inspire the nearly two fifths (38%) who say they would never take part in a walking challenge to get walking, particularly those who lack the confidence, motivation or energy to get fitter.
With half a million women, men and young adults having now taken part in walking events organised by Walk the Walk, our fantastic Walkers are living proof of the benefits training and walking can bring. Walkers wearing the charity’s unique brightly decorated bras are still raising awareness for breast cancer, as well as an incredible £113 million to date, helping fund research and improving the lives of those with cancer now.
So get on your walking shoes and encourage family, friends, colleagues, neighbours and everyone you know to do the same. It’s all about getting fit, having fun and raising money and awareness for breast cancer!
